Fashion Styling

*All clothing - Desire Clothing

I've been meaning to kick start this blog off again for absolutely ages now but I've just been so busy! I moved to Manchester from Ireland after graduating last year as I managed to land myself a job with an online Fashion company doing Visual Merchandising and Social Media. Almost a year on and I'm a Creative Design Executive and Stylist for another company, fastest year of my life! I am absolutely in love with Manchester! But yes, I basically do graphic design, plan/manage/art direct photo shoots, styling, and manage the blog as well. It has it's ups and downs like any job but I really like it and am gaining some really invaluable experience. I'm still not sure what i want to do to be totally honest, but I'm enjoying attempting to find out! I thought I'd just share some of the photos from a recent shoot we did, it was just in the studio as that's what the MD wanted, but I was happy enough to work around it as I wanted to go for something really simplistic but quirky. The model is a gorgeous girl called Jessica Conner from Boss Models which is a Manchester based agency, she was just great to work with and had such a fab attitude.

I'm pretty pleased with the imagery! I made a Lookbook which i may post at a later date.. It's really fun and quirky and has loads of little illustrations and doodles on it which really added to the old quirk element I was going for. We're thinking of concepts and drawing up moodboards for a shoot around August/September which will be on location so i'm SO excited about that.

All clothing is from www.desireclothing.co.uk and loads of it is on sale so take a look!

FOR SALE! Fine & Dainty - Bunting, Cards and Homewares!

Find Fine & Dainty on Facebook at: Fine & Dainty page
Shop online at: Fine & Dainty

Goodness it's been a while since i posted here. In my last post, sometime around 1989 by the looks of it, i mentioned opening an online store. A long while later, here it is! I have a lot of work to do and a lot more products to make and post on the online store, but im happy with it so far.. Quirky bunting, vintage style fabrics, and funny digitally designed grettings cards (clearly obsessed with puns). Probably worth noting that bunting can be personalised with any name. Coming soon wil be a lot more bunting and some cushions too. Have a look and give me a like on facebook :)

Polkadots & Posies

Handmade 'Polkadots & Posies' Bunting

Something I've been dabbling in for the last couple of years is making handmade bunting when it's a friends birthday, or in this case engagement and new house (you know your 900 years old when your friends are getting married and taking out mortgages!) I have a HND and a degree in Textile and Fashion Design and I think it's about time i put it to some use. I've been thinking about setting up an online store to sell textile-based handmade gifts for a while now, i'm pretty experienced and confident making cushions and bunting, and i actually really enjoy making them so i'm not sure why i haven't set something up already! I suppose I'm a bit concerned about whether it will generate any interest or not..  But if you don't try and all that! It would be lovely to hear some feedback :) And if anyone can recommend a website to set up an online shop, i'd appreciate it! Big Cartel seems like a pretty popular option?

Mirrored Lace

Bow Tie - Topshop
Lace Collar Blouse - Topshop
Wedge Heels - Ebay
Sunglasses - Ebay
Casio Watch - Amazon

I tell a lie, I actually wore this a few nights ago to a Primal Scream gig that I won tickets for - minus the sunglasses obviously! It was a pretty good night considering I wasn't sure who they were! I've never been a major fan or wearer of trousers, but I seen these hanging on a rail in H&M a couple of weeks ago and I really wished I was. I didn't even pick them up to try them on, just sailed past thinking I'd never know what to wear with them and couldn't pull off the risque print, but i couldn't stop thinking about them for days on end and had to go get them! If you're a bit on the curvy hipped and butt side like me, you'll probably not even consider dabbling in the printed trouser trend. But I find if I get something with a long and straight enough cut like this sleeveless jacket from Topshop, the trend is pretty doable!

Tapestry

Floral Tapestry Print Blazer - River Island
Black Bowler Hat - Topshop
White Blouse - Urban Outfitters
Bow Neck Pin - Topshop
Black Skinny Jeans - River Island
Lace Up Boots - Primark

Eeee i love this blazer so much, perfect print and colours for this time of year! I bought it on good old trusty Ebay recently as i missed it on the River Island website last year and always had a bit of a thing for it. You know when you see other people wearing something and you're overcome with jealousy and regret that you didn't buy it yourself? Well, that happened!

In other news, I know i have absolutely no hope but it would be lovely to be nominated for the Company Blogger Award for Best Style Newcomer Blog if you like my blog and have a spare minute then please click here! Thanks in advance :)
